Jim Greer – Lead Guitar & Vocals: Jim began his musical career with his brother, Bill, in the late 1960’s where they co-founded the authentic classic rock band, East Wind. Jim’s early lead guitar influences include – among others - Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Richie Blackmore and Jimmy Page, but he also had an affinity for exceptional vocal harmonies and arrangements from the likes of the Beatles, Three Dog Night, Earth, Wind and Fire – AND THE DOOBIE BROTHERS. This all led to Jim founding China Grove – A Tribute to the Doobie Brothers in 2019 since not only were the members of the Doobie Brothers all great musicians, but their vocal harmonies were just sensational!
Rich Katila - Guitar & Vocals: I saw my first “rock band” in 1969 at age 12 in the school gym and I was hooked. I wanted to do that, so I got a guitar and taught myself how to play. It was in that same gym the next year in my own “rock band”. We did Stones and Beatles and whatever was popular at the time. I took many years off, getting married and raising a family. I reconnected with some local musician in 2015 and here I am today, in a “rock band” and a “tribute band”. Ain’t life great!
Jim "JD" Hogg - Keyboards & Vocals: As keyboardist with China Grove, Jim “JD” Hogg brings years of rock band experience to the stage. “My parents told me to ‘stop that pounding’ when I picked out progressions on our piano at age four,” he says. Over time, his 9-to-5 creative world as a writer/editor has complimented his musical ear and training, resulting in decades of fun times with Emergency Broadcast System and other groups. And now, JD takes pleasure in paying tribute to The Doobie Brothers with every performance.
Jeff Capps - Drums & Vocals: As a kid, Jeff’s dad was into big band and jazz music. As a result, he became aware of and enjoyed the talent of some of the great drummers of that era...Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa and Ed Schaunessy to name a few. Then, in February 1964, he saw the Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show and there was no turning back! Music and the drums became a major force in his life. He lists his early drum influences as Ringo Starr, Ginger Baker, Keith Moon and latter influences as Narada Michael Walden and Simon Phillips. Over the years, Jeff has played in many Cleveland rock and pop cover bands and now enjoys filling the drummer's seat in China Grove.
Mike Southworth - Bass Guitar & Vocals: Mike is an electric bassist and composer and is currently a member of China Grove - Tribute to the Doobie Brothers and East Wind - Cleveland, Ohio's #1 band for authentic 70s & 80s Rock n' Roll.
